Rest between Exercises is Not Time to Nap

CORRECT RESTING PRACTICES:

  1. Less than 15 seconds of rest.  If you need longer, it is because you have overstrained in your previous set and passed “The Point of Diminishing Returns” on that particular section of your fitness program.  You need to readjust your workout to allow for a comfortable 15 seconds or less rest between exercises without any stress or exhaustion.
  2. Correct breathing will allow you to control the repetitions, the set, and the workout to allow for the correct resting period and to get oxygen throughout your body giving maximum benefits to your muscles.
  3. Correct form will allow you to control the repetitions, the set, and the workout to allow for the correct resting period as well as help you avoid injury.
  4. Correct concentration will allow you to control the repetitions, the set, and the workout to allow for the correct resting period as well as keeping correct breathing and stay away from injury.
  5. Correct grip on the weights will allow you to control the repetitions, the set, and the workout to allow for the correct resting period and avoid future long-term damage to your joints, ligaments, and tendons.
  6. Controlled velocity will allow you to control the repetitions, the set, and the workout to allow for the correct resting period and avoid accumulated rapid and impactful force against your joints, ligaments and tendons that cause future long-term damage to your body.
  7. The correct number of repetitions, which is best accomplished by timing the set instead of counting the repetition, will allow you to control each repetition, the set, and the workout to allow for the correct resting period and help you keep within the Point of Diminishing Returns.
