Dairy Products High in Saturated Fats

Dairy products can not only introduce additional saturated fat into your diet but also unhealthy hormones and chemicals.  Any product from the cow that is not organic will carry the hormones and chemicals the cow is injected with.  Products high in saturated fat include:

  • Cheeses
  • Whole and 2 percent milk
  • Creams
  • Ice cream

Because consuming some dairy products can increase your saturated fat intake, and in today’s world, chemically processed foods will turn your saturated fats into a danger to your physical as well as your brain health.  So it is a good idea to be mindful of the amounts of dairy being added to your favorite foods or beverages (for example, coffee creamer or butter on your toast). High fat dairy sources can add up fairly quickly.

Healthy alternatives to the above.

  • Cheeses…Replace with Follow Your Heart brand Style Cheese or Daiya brand Style cheese
  • Whole and 2 percent milk…replace with coconut milk, almond milk and nut milk.  It’s a good idea to learn how to make your own to avoid added sugar and chemicals.
  • Creams…replace with coconut cream or groat cream
  • Ice cream…replace with fresh fruit put through a Yonanas machine ($40 at Walmart).
