I have listed a series of Herbs that start with the letter “H” from Hawthorn to Hyssop, to make it easy for you to find the Herb you’re looking for quickly.  

Please check with your family physician before taking any herb to see if it is safe for you or if there are any possible “reactions” or “interactions” with any prescribed medication, or other supplementation that you may be taking.  Pregnant women or those breast feeding should be extremely careful before taking any herbs during the pregnancy and while breastfeeding to avoid complications before, during, and after childbirth.  

 Recommended for: hay fever, sinusitis, respiratory disorders, bronchial tubes and lungs.
Horehound boosts the immune system

Hawthorn – Recommended for: anemia, cardiovascular and circulatory disorders, immune system, dilating coronary blood vessels, cholesterol, and heart muscle. 

Hops – Helpful with anxiety, cardiovascular disorders, hyperactivity, insomnia, nervousness, pain, restlessness, sexually transmitted diseases, shock, stress, toothaches, ulcers. 

Horehound – Recommended for: hay fever, sinusitis, respiratory disorders, bronchial tubes and lungs. Boosts the immune system. 

Horse chestnut – Protects against vascular damage, makes capillary walls less porous, shields against UV radiation damage. Good for varicose veins, reducing excess tissue fluids and easing nighttime muscle spasms in the legs. Used topically, reduces pain and swelling and prevents bruising.  

Diuretic. Recommended for bladder infection, kidney disease, obesity, and prostate disorders. Combined with gravel root, good for kidney stones.
Hydrangea is recomended for obesity

Horsetail – Diuretic. Recommended for: arthritis, bone diseases such as osteoporosis and rickets, bronchitis, cardiovascular disease, edema, gallbladder disorders, inflammation, muscle cramps, and prostate disorders. Increases calcium absorption, promotes healthy skin, strengthens bone, hair, nails, and teeth. Promotes healing of broken bones and connective tissue. Used in poultice form to depress bleeding and accelerate healing of burns and wounds. Strengthens the heart and lungs. 

Hydrangea – Diuretic. Recommended for bladder infection, kidney disease, obesity, and prostate disorders. Combined with gravel root, good for kidney stones. 

Hyssop – Recommended for: circulatory problems, epilepsy, fever, gout, weight problems, congestion, blood pressure, and dispelling gas. Used externally, helpful for wound healing. Poultices made from fresh green hyssop help to heal cuts.
