Your eating while pregnant will shape your unborn child’s life. If you eat food with chemicals, he’ll develop illnesses from those chemicals, allergies, inflammation, weaknesses etc. That is why it’s so important to read ingredient labels on every food that you purchase and make sure you eat organic foods, packaged as well as fruits and vegetables.

Depression, headaches, dizziness, confusion, lack of stamina and strength will all be the results you can expect from foods that cause inflammation in your system. The human body doesn’t take kindly to chemicals, additives, preservatives, hormones, excess sugar, bleaching or coloring in foods. While our systems might get used to them, but the inevitable symptoms will eventually develop into illnesses. Inflammation is a warning sign that something worst is about to happen to your body.

Some foods contain chemicals, like caffeine or mercury. You can pass these harmful chemicals to your baby during pregnancy, even if we don’t take into account the chemicals in processed of foods, many dairy products, like milk, eggs and cheese. Pasteurized is what you want to look for in dairy products. Pasteurized, means that foods are heated to kill any bad germs. If the product label doesn’t say “pasteurized,” pick a different product. Unpasteurized dairy products can give you food poisoning, like listeriosis. If the dairy products are not “organic” the cow has been shot with hormones, the meat and cheese processed for longer shelf life and an array of chemicals have been used during processing that will bring illness to your unborn child as well as yourself.

Eliminate carbonated drinks

We must also eliminate carbonated drinks from our daily foods, since are usually filled with added sugars and additives. There are claims that carbonation increases calcium loss in bones, causes tooth decay, causes irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and can make you gain weight even without the calories, sugar, and flavor that are found in regular soda, but it’s not certain if that’s the case.

SOME OF FOODS TO AVOID:

  • Fish that is not wild caught. Fish get mercury from the water they swim in and from eating other fish that have mercury in them. By eating fish that contain mercury, you can pass the metal to your baby during pregnancy. This can cause brain damage and affect your baby’s hearing and vision. (Fish that can be high in mercury, like shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish).
  • Raw or undercooked meat (even when it’s organic).
  • Refrigerated pates, meat spreads or smoked seafood.
  • Nonfood items, like clay, starch, paraffin or coffee grounds.
