WHY IS WEIGHT LOSS SO DIFFICULT?

First, let’s take a peek at why we struggle so much with losing weight.

Weight is tied to self-esteem, body image, and depressive symptoms

Despite these well-documented benefits, many people struggle with continuing a weight loss program. There are tons of reasons why this occurs, but one of the most essential one is that we try to attack the body to reduce weight, when all along it’s the mind that must be influenced on proper nutrition and weight loss.

Further, there are individual, interpersonal, and organizational obstacles to weight loss. From the individual, many people struggle with using food as a coping mechanism. Meanwhile, interpersonally, many people lack support from their healthcare providers. Nor do they find mental well-being help in obesity management programs.

Always Remember These Motivational Quotes About Weight Loss

1 – “It Does Not Matter How Slowly You Go, As Long as You Don’t Stop.” Confucius

Said by Confucius, this quote is a great reminder that everything that is done at a careful and rational pace as long as we don’t give up has a thousand more chances to succeed than a burst of excitement followed by an irrational and aggressive program that will fail time after time.  We can’t expect to abuse the body for 20 years or more and then lose the weight and keep it off in a very short period of time. This is true whether you are trying to lose 10 pounds or 200 pounds.

2 – “We All Have Dreams. But in Order to Make Dreams Come into Reality, It Takes An Awful Lot Of Determination, Dedication, Self-Discipline, And Effort.” Jesse Owens

Unfortunately when most people begin their weight loss journey, they probably have a very specific and irrational goal in mind. Many fail and quit because of that mind set, so it’s important to adjust our goals to a rational and attainable level and keep moving forward.

You won’t reach your goal by just dreaming about what you need to do. So, get out there and make that goal a reality with proper dedication and self-discipline.

Weight loss takes determination, effort, and perseverance

3 – “It’s Not About Perfect. It’s About Effort. And When You Bring That Effort Every Single Day, That’s Where Transformation Happens.” Jillian Michaels

Things will never change if you do the same things day in and day out. This is true of everything, you do.  Doing the same thing every day and expecting a different result is the true definition of insanity.

Remember, you don’t need to be perfect when it comes to nutrition and fitness.  What matters is that you know when you derail from the objective and get back on track and that you are truly making the change.

4 – “I’ve Worked Too Hard and Too Long to Let Anything Stand in The Way of My Goals.” Mia Hamm

If you spend the time to work at weight loss and the path has been a hard one, it is only fair that you stay consistent regardless of the many days when it just doesn’t seem like there’s any improvements or those days that you feel that you can’t control those crazy cravings.

Don’t let anything get in the way of you overcoming the controversies and hard work it took to realize your dreams. Keep pushing through your obstacles, and don’t let anything get in the way to your success.

5 – “Only I Can Change My Life. No One Can Do It for Me.” Carol Burnett

Your health, your wellbeing, and the love for being the person you deserve to be is strictly under your control.  No one else can achieve those goals for you.  Maintain control over your life. Don’t blame your trainer, friends, or dietician for not meeting your weight loss goals.

Giving in to unhealthy habits or healthy ones is solely your ability to control your mind and not give in to weaknesses. You can’t reach the destination of your dreams on the back of someone else’s Journey
